Electric variable speed drives (VSD) have been replacing mechanic and hydraulic systems in many sectors of industry transportation because their better performance reduced cost. However, the electric still face issue being considered less reliable than mechanical ones. For this reason, researchers actively investigating effective ways to increase reliability such systems. This paper is focused on analysis common-mode voltage (CMV) generated by operation VSDs which directly affects lifetime complete system. The method based mathematical description harmonic spectrum CMV depending PWM implementation. A generalized where carriers present a phase-displacement developed. As result presented analysis, reduction achieved applying with optimal carrier angles without any external component and/or passive filtering technique. values are obtained considering minimization total distortion. resulting easily implementable mostly off-the-shelf mid-range micro-controller control platforms. strategy has evaluated scaled-down experimental setup proving its good performance.
